Roc Boys 3.0
April 26, 2011
I was commissioned to do an illustration for a song titled “Roc Boys 3.0″.
I honestly don’t know too much about the song but, the illustration features Jay Z, J. Cole, and Jay Electronica.
Did the painting on canvas, added the text digitally.

Kiss My Black Ads Interview + For Colored Girls…
June 28, 2010
Pretty awesome post at Kiss My Black Ads on me.
KMBA is a really great blog and I’m glad to be profiled there.
Craig, the creator of KMBA, also posted my For Colored Girls poster as did Shadow and Act.
We’re really trying to move these posters around in hopes of getting some attention and possibly some of that Tyler Perry money. (oww.)
No, but seriously. I kind of love these posters. It would be more than amazing to have them as the official posters for this film.

Film Poster I did for the upcoming adaptation of Ntozake Shange’s choreopoem “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow is Enuf”.
Another version:

The original painting is oil on canvas, 16×20 inches.
What I like most about this painting is the light and the negative space.
I had a friend pose for me. Took a few photos of her in different poses with different lighting. They all came out pretty well. I loved her expression in this one.

Even though I think Barack Obama could have proposed a better health care reform, let’s get this public option.
Affordable health care for everyone -
young, old, poor, rich, healthy, sick.
Because we’re human.
And deserve to be treated as such.

James Poyser Presents: The ReBel Yell
August 25, 2009
So, some Philly talent linked up to create The ReBel Yell. Their album, Love and War, is produced by James Poyser. And the lead singer, Domini Supastar asked me to do some artwork for the album….
I went out and bought it yesterday.

Here is the “Love and War” art I did.
We came up with the idea of splitting his face – one side representing “love” and, the other side, “war”.
My favorite part is the vine.

Here it is as part of the package.
I wish I would have known that it was going to be on the cd which is circular, as opposed to the back cover which is square.
I would have made the vines follow the edge of the circle – that would have been dope.
But, it still looks nice, I think.

My camera sucks but, that’s my name in the credits:
