The Kiss, oil on canvas, 2011
Part of my “Get Angry” series, The Kiss is a rendition of Gustav Klimt’s The Kiss.
This series of paintings is about the protests and revolutions that have happened in 2011. The Kiss fits into this series by expressing protest against discrimination in the form of simple love. With the repeal of DADT and gay marriage being legalized in NY, this painting aims to represent that movement.
The rest of the paintings can be seen on my site: http://tlynnfaz.com
Elizabeth Colomba
October 31, 2010
I was introduced to Elizabeth Colomba‘s work a couple of weeks ago at an art reception for There Is No Looking Glass, a group exhibition featuring her as well as my friend Andrea Chung, who is also a fantastic artist.
As with most paintings, digital photos of the work do not do the work any justice. Her work in person is very, very impressive.
I’m a big fan of Vermeer and Colomba clearly takes influence from him.
